I nearly cried when it was time to check out of this place! The location speaks for itself, in the magnificent Queen Charlotte Sound, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. The lovely Graham manager and his team looked after us like royalty from the moment we set foot on the jetty, having been delivered by water taxi from the first leg of our 4-day walk on the Queen Charlotte Track.
Our accommodation in a one-bedroom villa overlooking the sound, was absolutely perfect- views, bed linen, cosy NZ woolen throw rugs, toiletries, beautiful teas, wines etc in the mini-bar. We were there to walk each day but we would have been more than happy to stay put!
And have I mentioned the food? The duck starter at the Kumutage Restaurant was amazing, and the staff did everything possible to accommodate our walking schedule - early cooked breakfasts, packed lunches, and pool service to the hot tub where we liked to recover! I cannot overstate the attentiveness and personal nature of the service we received, without being overbearing.
Our only disappointment was not being able to stay longer! Thanks guys for your wonderful review and may I say - we were blessed to have you both stay for the 4 days whilst you completed the Queen Charlotte Track. You did what we encourage many of our guests to do and that it use the Resort as home base whilst walking each leg of the track. I am pleased that you completed the walk from Portage back to us down our track from the QCT and that you found this challenging and a great leg to walk.
We often get criticised for the track down but are glad that like us - you found it a great track to walk down from - albeit challenging, it is rewarding. Our spa therapist starts next week and I am delighted to say that Kana is permanent and will be here year round to meet the increasing demands on this service.
